Flight Control Panel
The Flight Control Panel additional information module will cover the function of
switches and lights on the Flight Control Panel specifically and primary flight
controls in general. Flight controls are discussed in the Hydraulic System
Module.
Crew control of the standby hydraulic pump is available from this panel through
use of the A and B FLT CONTROL switches and Alternate Flaps master switch,
however activation of the standby system and standby hydraulic pump is largely
an automatic function as follows:
Automatic operation is initiated when the following conditions exist:
- Loss of system A or B, and
- flaps extended, and
- airborne, or wheel speed greater than 60 kts, and
- FLT CONTROL switch A or B Hydraulic System ON.

Standby Rudder On
The standby rudder PCU is powered by the standby hydraulic system. The
standby hydraulic system is provided as a backup if system A and/or B pressure
is lost. With the standby rudder PCU powered the pilot retains adequate rudder
control capability. It can be operated manually through the FLT CONTROL
switches or automatically. An amber STBY RUD ON light illuminates when the
standby rudder hydraulic system is pressurized. The standby rudder system
can be pressurized with either Flight Control switch, automatically during takeoff
or landing or automatically by the Force Fight Monitor. The STBY RUD ON light
illumination activates Master Caution and Flight Control warning lights on the
Systems Annunciation Panel.
